The update was scheduled to be released on November 1, 2017, but it was delayed and finally released on February 5, 2018. Roblox has been criticized for an update they released in February 2018 that added "tattoos" to their avatars. However, Minecraft has a different style of gameplay relating to platforming while ROBLOX players build and destroy using building blocks, Minecraft players explore a world. Another close similarity is that they both have their own ingame currency system. In many ways, they are similar both games have been developed by one company Tencent and are usually sold on the same platform Windows, OS X, iOS, Android. ROBLOX has also been compared to popular game Minecraft. This was later changed however when Roblox reached an agreement with Xbox Live regarding the matter between them. The ads contained animestyle nudity and extreme gore. ROBLOX was banned from Xbox Live in 2015 due to the game running advertisements which violated Microsoft's Terms of Service by being inappropriate for children. In addition to this, many games would feature these ads despite not making any money from them themselves. Unfortunately, these advertisements were runofthemill ads and did not produce any revenue for the company itself but also had a negative impact on their community as they were being flooded with ads featuring nudity, extreme gore, racism and other inappropriate content.

In late 2015, ROBLOX announced that they would be running advertisements on their site. The deal also confirmed that Tencent will continue to operate as the chief customer and user experience partner for ROBLOX. The acquisition is part of a strategy by RoLabX to become a global gaming powerhouse with operations in China, with over 50 of revenues coming from China alone by 2021.
